Theme of the Week- Mother's Day

This is a special week for you to celebrate your Mom! Take this time to do something special for her and let her know how great she it! I have some activities for you to do for her to help celebrate. We are also starting to learn about mass and how much something weighs.  I am hoping you will find these activities fun and educational. Have a Great week!

Reading: Your choice

  • Go to Raz Kids and read for 20 Minutes.
  • Read an actual book from home or an online book.

Math: Your Choice

  • Complete a math addition sheet from your booklet.
  • Go onto Mathletics and work on add and subtract facts.

Activities

  1. We are starting our Poetry unit for the month of May. On Sunday is Mother’s Day! Your assignment is to make an Acrostic poem for your mom. An acrostic poem takes each letter in the word and uses it to start a sentence about the word.

Example:

F- Frogs are the most amazing animal!

R- Rainforests have lots of frogs.

O- Oh how I love to see them jump!

G- Go out and catch a frog today!

  • Brainstorm things that describe your mother. Use the template to complete your poem and give it to her on Mother’s Day. Post in Class Dojo or Email when finished!

  1. Go to the Flower Bouquet directed draw and make a picture to go with the Poem for your mom.

  1. You now get to become a human scale. Find 5 things around your house or outside you want to order from lightest to heaviest. Follow the instructions on the sheet to complete the activity.
